Although filmed in 1968, Ken Hyman of Warner Bros. was reluctant to distribute PERFORMANCE, starring Mick Jagger, because of its sexual content and graphic violence — pushing the release to 1970 after a major re-edit. Despite the studio interference, the film is now considered highly influential for feature filmmakers and in the evolution of the music video.
