Tubal ligation, sometimes known as "getting your tubes tied," is a surgical procedure for women in which the fallopian tubes are cut, tied, or obstructed. This prevents conception, making it a permanent means of birth control. By restricting the fallopian tubes, eggs are prevented from migrating from the ovaries to the tubes, where they are generally fertilised by sperm.
