Mississippi State baseball won the series opener against Vanderbilt at Dudy Noble Field despite starting pitcher Ryan McPherson's injury.

Vanderbilt baseball was unable to sweep its SEC season opener, losing to LSU 16-9 at Hawkins Field on March 15. Tommy Goodin hit a home run in consecutive innings for the Commodores (13-8, 2-1), including a solo shot in the sixth that tied the score 6-all in a game they once trailed 6-0.

Vanderbilt baseball defeated LSU 11-3 on March 14 to take the series at Hawkins Field. The Commodores (13-7, 2-0 SEC) got on the board first on an RBI groundout from Ryker Waite in the second inning. After allowing a run in the top of the fourth, they came back with another in the bottom of the inning, then erupted for six runs in the fifth inning.
